Upward is the second level of the Light World of The Forest in Super Meat Boy.
This level primarily contains two walls, a scenario designed to teach the player the mechanics of wall-jumping.
Strategy[]
The intended way to complete this level is to reach the rightmost wall and perform a series of wall-jumps in order to reach Bandage Girl at the top. This can be accomplishes either by jumping from wall to wall, or by jumping off of the same wall. Alternatively, the player can use the left side of the middle platform to reach the top with a well-timed wall-jump.
This level introduces the saw blades, the most common obstacle in the game, but the only one in the level is out of the player's reach. Either way, this level is arguably harder to die in than in 1-1, since there's now only one way to reach out of bounds.
Trivia[]
- The name of the level and it's dark world counterpart are part of the phrase "Upward and Onward". This is somewhat ironic, as the phrase is generally used to refer to moving on from a bad experience, though this is only the second level in the game.
